I love the phrase "this subtle touch reveals the light" - opening the sense portals so wide they overlap.

It brings me a feeling of ancient and future times. Water as source. Primeval ocean, origin of species, waters of the womb. And then the "sons and daughters of the Buddha" idea throws an infinite arc into the future. All those buddhas, forever on and on.
But also the present, I guess, because how could there be any time or place where the sons and daughters of the buddha aren't?

Those bodhisattvas sitting in the bathwater are also in the molecules of water going in and through the group of them. In each other. Water as medium of information, vibration, exchange. We breathe in the steam, we drink the drops, we absorb through our skin, drawing the water into the deepest soft parts of this body that is mostly water anyway.

The idea of "being in the soup," all of us together: we're "in it." Together. That reminds me of a story I've heard Michael Meade tell, describing an ancient ritual where once a year the king and queen had to get into a vast cauldron of soup made from the body of a specially sacrificed animal, and then serve and nourish the people of their kingdom with that soup containing their own selves.

cause of water: all beings all together all at oncechristy lee-engelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09582663710897858255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1617743654624331674.post-25154752542674125302013-05-18T11:10:15.611-07:002013-05-18T11:10:15.611-07:00This is Water: the David Foster Wallace commenceme...This is Water: the David Foster Wallace commencement speech video. My mother would bathe us together all of us getting wet.

2. What are some areas of your life or the world that you hold yourself back from? How is it when you step into the bath?
Having fun, being good at something. The self critic always appears and shouts down the one who is excelling. Always something to complain about or criticize. Always advaticious.

3. Water can be a powerful image, what is it for you?
Life. Water is the source of all life.

4. How will you know when you have reached the place that the sons and daughters of the Buddhas live?
Don't know.

5. Extra Credit (10 points): What is the cause of water?
Please, don't give me extra credit, no guaranteed enlightenment.
